Andy Murray faces Jerzy Janowicz on Friday in the 2013 Wimbledon semifinals. The match is slated for 11 a.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE or Wimbledon's coverage HERE.
World No. 2 Murray made it through his first four matches without dropping a set, until meeting Fernando Verdasco Wednesday in the quarterfinals. Murray needed five sets to pull away with a rallying victory, winning 4-6, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, 7-5.
Defeating Verdasco earned Murray his 13th semifinals appearance in a major championship, tying Fred Perry's record, according to the ATP World Tour.
Janowicz, on the other side of the net, is making just his first semifinal appearance in five majors. The 22-year-old Pole is ranked No. 22 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, and he dropped his only set (two of them) at Wimbledon on Monday in the fourth round against Jurgen Melzer.
Janowicz leads Wimbledon with 94 aces, which are 34 more than Murray.
"I played (Janowicz) a couple of times and I [have] followed him a bit this year," Murray told reporters. "It will be a very tough match. He's played extremely well here, I think. ... He's a tough player. He has a big serve. He's a big guy with a lot of power.
"He also has a pretty good touch. He likes to hit drop shots. He doesn't just whack every single shot as hard as he can."
The two have met twice before. Murray won the meeting in 2009 at the Davis Cup, and Janowicz escaped with the victory last November at the BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.
Janowicz knows he'll have to play great tennis to overcome Murray, the favorite to win.
"I have to be focused on my game. He's been a top player for many, many years," Janowicz told reporters. "[It] definitely is not an easy match. I was able to win one match against him last year, so I hope I'm going to be able to do it one more time. I hope Andy will feel some kind of pressure."
