Blue the bear cub from Cambodia is finally learning to walk after arriving at a sanctuary with such bad spinal problems that his carers feared he would not survive.
Blue was found in a blue basket (hence his name) by an organization called Free The Bears, which works to rescue bears that have been captured by black market bear farmers.
Bear farmers hook bears up to catheters to milk their gall bladders for bile that is used in traditional medicine. This procedure is dangerous to the bears and is attributed to Blue's initial difficulty with walking, reported Mail Online.
However, once Blue got into the care of Free The Bears his condition began to change drastically.
Now, Blue uses his teeth to help him crawl and even climb.
"Blue is still a very young, growing bear and is not out of the woods yet, but he is dearly loved and we at Free The Bears are so happy with his progress," Blue's rescuers said on Facebook.
