Apple Hires BBC One's DJ Zane to Assist With Beats Music Service

One of the biggest companies Apple acquired last year was Dr. Dre's Beats, a company dedicated to making some of the best headphones in the industry. It isn't clear where Apple is taking Beats or what kind of rebranding the product will undergo. However, recent hirings are giving us a better sense of Apple's goals.

The BBC reported on Monday that Apple had hired BBC 1's popular music DJ, DJ Zane, to assist with Beats. DJ Zane (real name, Zane Low) has a history with radio and helping dozens of artists get onto the UK music charts. Zane was a key player in Adele and the Arctic Monkey's career, according to the Telegraph. Zane also helped produce Sam Smith's first album.

So far, Zane and BBC have not revealed much about what he will do with Apple or Beats, only that he is ending his career with BBC 1 at the end of the month and will be moving to California. Digital Trends suspects that it could be to help with improving Apple's iTunes streaming service or curating content for the site. It could also be a move to help improve Beats' image.

Apple acquired Beats in May 2014. Some reports predict that Apple will release its new streaming service by summer 2015.
