When Carrie Underwood heard that an officer's K-9 from her hometown was in danger, she didn't think twice to step in and help.
Officer Kevin Branscum's German Shepard, Gino, contracted heart worms from a mosquito and started racking up a large vet bill for his family.
"We've been going to vets for months, and we'll be done with treatment in May," Branscum told Q Political. "Treatment includes pills and injections. We started a pill which he has to take for 30 days and he has 120 pills to take. March 9th he starts injections. It has already cost me $4,000."
Branscum and Gino have been a team for four years for the McIntosh County Sherrif's Departments in Oklahoma and solved several narcotics investigations together. Q Political described their relationship as "one of the sweetest things we have ever heard about."
While Gino was still at the vet, Underwood heard of his tragedy - which so happened to be in her hometown - and came to the rescue.
Underwood auctioned off two of her guitars to collectors to raise enough money to pay off the amount of Gino's medical bills, reported Q Political.
"I just want to thank her. Everything caught me totally off guard. I'm grateful," Branscum told Q Political.
