Megyn Kelly Promoted to FOX Primetime Following Maternity Leave

Fox News Channel announced on Tuesday that news anchor Megyn Kelly's show will be moved up to primetime following her return from maternity leave.

According to a statement released by Fox News chief Roger Ailes, long-term contracts have also been signed by Bill O'Reilly, Sean Hannity and Greta Van Susteren, who was rumored to have met up with CNN high-ups to discuss moving to the television network.

"Megyn is an exceptional talent who has successfully filled and surpassed each role we have given her at the network," Ailes said in the statement released to Business Wire. "Her ability to command the screen, delve into the facts and lead a debate is what makes her one of the most sought-after anchors in the business."

Kelly said the new promotion makes her even more grateful to Fox's CEO.

"Roger Ailes hired me nine years ago, when I was new to this business," she said. "He had little other than instinct to suggest it might work out. I was grateful to him then, remain so today, and am excited for this next opportunity."

The 42-year-old anchor is slated to go on pregnancy leave later in July for her third child's birth.

Fox News has not yet given details on the primetime show that Kelly will be replacing, according to US Magazine.

Earlier this week, fellow Fox-er Greta Van Susteren made headlines after whispers began circling that the newscaster had covertly met with executives at CNN, with intentions to return to the cable network where she first started her career.

Van Susteren quickly insisted that she did not speak with CNN officials, writing on her blog that she would not leave her current network, Fox.

"I am not going anywhere," she wrote. "I have a long term contract with Fox and it is for a show in 'prime time.'"
