The Milwaukee Bucks could be active ahead of Thursday's NBA trade deadline. The players Milwaukee are reportedly eying include Denver Nuggets guard Ty Lawson, Chicago Bulls forward Taj Gibson and Sacramento Kings guard Nik Stauskas. Bucks veterans O.J. Mayo and Ersan Illyasova, meanwhile, both are said to be on the trade block.
With a new head coach and a team full of young talent, the Bucks could be active this week in trying to bring additional pieces to improve the roster.
"The Bucks are one of the teams being linked to Denver's Ty Lawson. They have also been linked to Chicago's Taj Gibson, although it may take a lot more to land either of them than Milwaukee has to part with," Basketball Insiders' Steve Kyler wrote Tuesday. "... The two names that get mentioned the most as trade chips for the Bucks are swing man O.J. Mayo and forward Ersan Ilyasova. Both players are valued by the Bucks, so neither is being given away, but both could be the chips that bring real change. ...
"The Bucks are not in desperation mode as they have been over the last few deadlines, but they do seem to be open for business."
Milwaukee also has interest in Stauskas, according to a report last week from Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times.
Multiple reports have indicated Denver would be willing to part with Lawson, but only for a huge offer. Those reports also indicated Denver's asking price for Lawson would likely be at least one future first-round draft pick, and Kyler suggested taking back JaVale McGee's $12 million contract for next season could also be part of it.
While Milwaukee may be interested in Gibson, they probably have no chance of landing him. Chicago is a favorite to make a deep run in the playoffs, and it's unlikely they trade away one of their major contributors before then.
Bucks center Larry Sanders, meanwhile, is reportedly considering taking a buyout from the team.
