Harper Lee isn't the only famed writer publishing a newly found manuscript this summer.
A Dr. Seuss manuscript entitled "What Pet Should I Get?" was discovered in a box in his San Diego home that was set aside after his 1991 death, reported The New York Times.
Dr. Suess' widow, Audrey, and longtime secretary and friend, Claudia Prescott, finally went through the box in 2013 and found the "What Pet Should I Get?" manuscript along with other unpublished work.
"What Pet Should I Get?" tells the story of a brother and sister trying to decide what kind of animal the newest member of their family should be. The brother and sister are apparently the same brother and sister from "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish," Cathy Goldsmith, who worked with Seuss on "Oh The Places You'll Go," said in a statement.
Goldsmith speculated in her statement that the book was written between 1958 and 1962 because "One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish" was written in 1960.
"While undeniably special, it is not surprising to me that we found this because Ted always worked on multiple projects and started new things all the time - he was constantly writing and drawing and coming up with ideas for new stories," Audrey Geisel, a vigilant keeper of her husband's legacy, said in a statement. "It is especially heartwarming for me as this year also marks twenty-five years since the publication of the last book of Ted's career, 'Oh, the Places You'll Go!'"
Seuss was known to illustrate his stories with black and white drawings to fill in with color later - including "What Pet Should I Get?" Goldsmith will oversee the coloring process of his illustrations, reported NYT.
"I know he is looking down, watching over the process, and I feel a tremendous responsibility to do everything just as he would have done himself," she told NYT.
"What Pet Should I Get?" will be published on July 28 by Random House Children's Books. At least two more books based off other manuscripts found in the box will be published at a later date.
