Colombian singer Shakira, 36, won her court battle against her ex-boyfriend who was attempting to access one of her bank accounts.
"The decision was the latest turn in a multifaceted, international legal war between Shakira and Antonio de la Rua that's unfolding in courts from Los Angeles to New York, the Bahamas and Europe," the New York Daily News reports.
De la Rua was suing the belly-dancing songstress for $100 million in damages, claiming he helped Shakira create her multi-million dollar brand during their ten-year romance, which ended in 2010.
Her ex-boyfriend reportedly told a Geneva court that "he should have ownership rights to the Swiss bank account because it holds most of the assets from their alleged oral business agreement," the Daily News reports.
The judge disagreed with de la Rua, saying he did not provide enough evidence to show he had any legal agreements with Shakira. According to the Daily News, there are no written contracts stating de la Rua had a professional arraignment with the singer.
Shakira reportedly filed a declaration in a Los Angeles court saying she had emails proving de la Rua has no rights to any of her companies.
"Just so you know, I am not Shakira's partner in coquito or any of her other companies. We have everything very neatly and she is the sole owner and beneficiary of her companies," reads a copy of a January 2011 email sent by de la Rua to Shakira's mom and attached as an exhibit, according to the Daily News.
"I am not a partner in any of your companies. You are the sole owner of all of them," he allegedly wrote in a related email sent to Shakira that same week, the Daily News reports.
Shakira is due back in court on July 31 for her Los Angeles case against de la Rua.
The singer is currently dating Spanish football star Gerard Pique, and gave birth to the couple's first son on Jan. 22.
