NBA Trade Deadline: Detroit Pistons Have Huge Day, Land Oklahoma City Thunder’s Reggie Jackson & Boston Celtics’ Tayshaun Prince (DETAILS)

The Detroit Pistons were one of the several surprises on Thursday before the trade deadline passed. They completed two trades in the final minutes of the deadline, landing Oklahoma City Thunder guard Reggie Jackson and Boston Celtics veteran Tayshaun Prince.

Not many expected Pistons coach and president Stan Van Gundy to be active ahead of Thursday's trade deadline, which made the Pistons' two last-minute trades a surprise to many. Detroit snagged Jackson in a three-team trade that included the Utah Jazz. In exchange for Jackson, the Pistons gave up D.J. Augustin, Kyle Singler and a 2017 second-round draft pick Oklahoma City and another 2017 second-round pick to Utah.

"We're pleased to welcome Reggie Jackson to the organization," Van Gundy said in the statement, via MLive.com. "Reggie is a young player with good size and length at the guard position. He's been successful as a starter playing extended minutes and we feel he's a good addition to our roster. We thank both D.J. Augustin and Kyle Singler for their contributions and wish them well moving forward."

The trade for Jackson also included Utah receiving veteran Kendrick Perkins, forward Grant Jerrett, rights to Tibor Pleiss and a protected future first-round pick from Oklahoma City, according to the Jazz's website. In addition to Augustin and Singler from Detroit, Oklahoma City received center Enes Kanter and forward Steve Novak from Utah.

Van Gundy's other big move of the day was bringing Prince back to Detroit in a trade with Boston. Detroit gave up backup forwards Jonas Jerebko and Gigi Datome for the 34-year-old, who played for Detroit from 2002 until 2013.

"Tayshaun Prince is certainly well known to fans in Detroit and we're pleased to welcome him back," Van Gundy said, via the team website. "He fills a position of need for us at small forward with his offensive and defensive versatility."
