LeAnn Rimes Opens About Childhood Bullying, 'I Had A Girl Bring a Knife To School...She Tried To Kill Me'

LeAnn Rimes opened up about being bullied at an Anti-Bullying event in Los Angeles. The country star told "Entertainment Tonight" that she is such an advocate for anti-bullying because she was tormented in junior high. She said a lot of the girls were jealous of her success.

"I was bullied when I was a kid - when I was in junior high. A lot of girls can get real mean during the sixth grade year," she said. "I used to perform around Dallas and Texas where I lived, a lot. My principal would put something on the bulletin board if I was in the newspaper or something, and there was this clique of girls that did not like it. So, I had my locker egged. I had a girl bring a knife to school on the last day of the sixth grade and tried to kill me! Awesome. So I'd say I was bullied a little."

The 30-year-old singer, who entered into rehab last summer for stress and anxiety, has been in the headlines a lot when it comes to her husband's ex-wife Brandi Glanville. The two have gotten into several verbal fights over Twitter. Their feud began after it was discovered that Rimes had an affair with Eddie Cibrian, Glanville's ex-husband. The affair not only broke up Glanville's marriage but Rimes' marriage as well. The "Where I Stood" singer faced a lot of criticism for the affair telling "Entertainment Tonight" that the bullying didn't end in junior high school and that she has been targeted a lot lately.

"I've been such a target I guess for misjudgment lately, and a lot of anger from some people, especially through social media," she said. "Obviously we're [celebrities] underneath a microscope and in the spotlight all the time, but it's no reason to be able to pick apart someone the way that a lot of people do. We're human... this is my job, and then I have my life. But I'm human being in both of them - and I think people forget that a lot of times."

Rimes told Katie Couric in an October 2012 interview that dealing with social media can become very difficult at times especially when people she doesn't even know comment and make judgments about her personal life. She said that even though she tries not to let it get to her, sometimes she just can't help it. Recently, the country singer announced that she and her husband are making plans to have their reality show. She said that one of the reasons for them deciding to open their personal life up to the public is because she feels like so many people are so interested in her relationship with Cibrian and there are so many reports about their marriage that she might as well set the record straight and tell their own story.

"We're doping a TV show based on our reality. We'll take things out of our lives and celebrate them and make them funny," Rimes told People magazine. "People have been laughing at us - we want them to laugh with us!"

Plans for their reality show are still being worked out but she did tell "ET" that if the show is picked up the public will not see her two step-sons on the show.
