Kanye West's Newest Fashion Collaboration with French Brand A.P.C. to Hit Shelves this Month

Kanye's got a lot on his plate: what with the release of his hotly contested new album Yeezus, a storm of media drama concerning girlfriend Kim Kardashian and, oh yeah, having a child, the rapper has taken on a fair amount of responsibility.

Now, the mogul is extending his feelers into another endeavor: clothing design.

French brand A.P.C.-a clothing company known for minimalist styles and crisp, streamlined wears-posted a photo on its Instagram of a pair of jeans with a red tag that read "A.P.C. KANYE" on Sunday.

By Monday afternoon, A.P.C. representatives confirmed to New York Magazine that Kanye would, indeed, be heading up a collaboration featuring a small set of designs, to be released on July 14.

"After much discussion between [A.P.C. designer] Jean Touitou and Kanye, the A.P.C. Kanye collection consists of a jean, a hoodie and a t-shirt," an email from the clothing company said.

Representatives did not specify whether or not the singularity of this statement meant that the rapper's line would only consist of three items.

Kanye-who implied that he'd partner up with A.P.C. in a recent W Magazine article-is known for his interest in fashion, and more specifically, minimalist fashion. The concept of basic fundamentalism inspired the business mogul on his newest record, and he's changed the way he dresses, he told the New York Times in a recent interview.

"I'm just trying to cut away all the-you know, it's even like what we talk about with clothing and fashion, that sometimes all that gets in the way. You even see the way I dress now is so super straight," he told the Times.

It makes sense, then, that Kanye would seek out A.P.C for a collaboration; the French clothing brand offers straight-laced button downs, simple sandals and clean white tees that are about as whittled-down as the Le Corbusier lamp that Kanye cited as his latest record's inspirational muse.

This is not the first time Kanye has worked in fashion: last year, the musician created a pair of heels for Giuseppe Zanotti. He named the decadent, winged shoes "Cruel Summer."
