Golden Corral Dumpster Food: Viral Video Gets Manager Fired And Viewers Queasy (WATCH)

A video of Golden Corral meat sitting by a dumpster is circulating the Internet, the manager responsible for the mess has been fired.

Golden Corral fired a manager for leaving raw meat outside by a dumpster and serving it to customers, the Huffington Post reported. The incident as the Port Orange, Fla. fast food joint was captured in a video that has gone viral.

The footage, taken by employee Brandon Huber, shows pounds of raw beef sitting out by a dumpster in the back of the restaurant; the employee said the food was going to be taken back in and served.

The Florida Golden Corral owner Eric Holm promptly terminated the manager for not following appropriate food handling procedures. Holm told the Huffington Post none of the food seen in the video was ever served to customers.

The video shows "raw hamburger patties, raw baby back ribs, pot roast meat, chicken, bacon slices, a green bean casserole and a large hotel pan full of gravy," all sitting next to a dumpster. Some shots even show black flies swarming near the food.

Huber said the meat was being hidden during a health inspection, but the manager planned to bring it back inside and serve it to unsuspecting customers.

Meat that is stored at temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit for more than two hours is considered contaminated, as it can become a breeding ground for dangerous bacteria. The population of pathogens can double every 20 minutes the food is left in warm temperatures.

Golden Corral issued a statement, according to Time.

"In regards to the video that is currently that is currently being circulated by an employee of Golden Corral of an isolated incident of improper food handling at out Port Orange, Florida location," the company said:

1. The food in the video was never served to a single customer.

2. All of the food was thrown away immediately.

3. The employee in the video participated in disposing of the food.

4. The employee in the video- through his father- offered to sell the video.

5. The manager of the restaurant was terminated.

The restaurant chain also released a short statement on Twitter.

A Tampa Golden Corral was cited for having a maggot-infested dumpster and temperature violations within their buffet, which could have caused bacteria in the food, the Atlantic Wire reported.

The incident is similar to another food incident when photos of a Taco Bell employee licking a stack of taco shells went viral.
