Honduras meets Haiti on Monday in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The match begins at 9:30 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE.
The two teams meet at the Red Bull arena in New York. They share Group B with El Salvador and Trinidad & Tobago, FutNSoccer.com reports. Honduras, the only team in the Hexagonal, is the early favorite to win the group - even with its alternate squad.
Honduran manager Luis Fernando Suarez decided to use his "B" squad to limit the wear-and-tear on his starters, citing a busy schedule of World Cup qualifiers as the reason. Only a few of the players that participated in the Hexagonal matches will be available for the Gold Cup tournament, with the bulk of Honduras' alternate squad being filled with Honduran league players.
Haiti also will be limited - its squad is composed of both professional and semi-professional players. Haiti qualified for the Gold Cup by winning its group in last year's Caribbean Cup, where the squad went unbeaten. Haiti's last two matches were against Italy, a 2-2 draw, and Spain, a 1-2 loss.
FutNSoccer predicts a close match ending in a 1-1 draw. Haiti has played well in its international friendlies, and the Honduran B-Team helps to somewhat even the field.
A draw would put Haiti in an excellent scenario - one win against El Salvador or Trinidad & Tobago would then advance the squad to the quarterfinals.
The match will be televised on Univision Deportes and the Fox Soccer Channel.
