Massachusetts Man Selling, Shipping 'Historic Boston Snow' To People In Warmer Climates: $89 for 6 pounds

A Massachusetts man is making a profit by selling off the several feet of snow that has been dumped in his yard to customers, friends, family and enemies in warmer climates.

The Northeast has been ravaged with weekly snowstorms since the past two months, leading Kyle Waring and his wife to create ShipSnowYo.com as a way to capitalize on all the snow, Boston.com reported.

So Waring, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, just north of Boston, has started to ship snow to people in warmer climates starting at $89 for six pounds within 20 hours. While some of the snow may melt in transit, the 6-pound package of snow will still be good for 10-15 snowballs.

"At this rate, it's going to be July until the snow melts," he said to Boston.com. "But I've thought about taking this idea and running with it for other seasonal items. Maybe I'll ship some fall foliage."

Although the idea had been started as a joke, it soon turned into a legitimate business, Waring said. However the website doesn't plan to send more snow to areas that have already been hit hard, stating that we "will not ship snow to any states in the Northeast! We're in the business of expunging snow!"

Anywhere else in the U.S., the website will ship snow, guaranteed. "All shipments are made overnight and arrive anywhere in the U.S. in under 20 hours!" the website states.

Initially, Waring offered 16.9-ounce snow-filled water bottles for $19.99, but found that the snow melted by the time it reached its destination, USA Today reported.

Coming up with a new game plan, he began selling it in bulk: six pounds of snow for $89 dollars and a 10 pound option for $119, a deal which has been lapped up by the consumers.

"I put the snow in a plastic bag, and put that in tinfoil," Waring told Boston.com. "Then I put that package in an insulated container that's an inch and a half thick, and ship it overnight. It's sealed tight in Omaha steaks packaging."
