Michael Keaton Puts Away Best Actor Acceptance Speech At Oscars After Losing to Eddie Redmayne [VIDEO]

A seasoned Hollywood veteran like Michael Keaton should know by now that it's hard to escape the cameras at award shows.

At the 87th Academy Awards on Sunday, Keaton learned the hard way. The "Birdman" star was nominated, and seen as a frontrunner to win by many, for Best Actor. But Eddie Redmayne wound up winning the award for his portrayal of Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything," and as it was announced, Keaton stood up, applauded and put his acceptance speech back in his pocket. Check out the Vine below.

Keaton won Best Male Lead at the Independent Spirit Awards and Best Actor in a Motion Picture, Comedy or Musical, at the Golden Globes leading up to the Oscars.

His performance was acclaimed and called a comeback of sorts by many after not participating in any prominent films for many years. On the other hand, Redymane's career is just beginning, as his acclaimed work in "The Theory of Everything" is his breakout role.

The "Birdman" cast and crew did not go home from the Oscars empty-handed though. The film won four of the night's most prestigious awards, including Best Picture. Alejandro González Iñárritu won Best Director and Best Original Screenplay for his work on the film, while Emmanuel Lubezki was awarded with the Oscar for Best Cinematography.
