Labs appear to be keeping their title as America's favorite dog in 2015.
The American Kennel Rankings, set to be released sometime Thursday, found labs to remain America's favorite dog for the third year in a row, reported The Associated Press. Labs became the top dog in 2013 when they finally broke poodles' decades old record.
"They're just very intuitive," Breeder Micki Beerman, of Brooklyn, told AP. "They kind of know when you need them."
While talking about labs with AP, Beerman recalled an instance when one of her dogs won the trust of a hesitant child by gradually moving closer until the child began to pet the dog.
Labs are dependable dogs and often hold dutiful jobs in American society. This breed is often found as police K9 dogs, guide dogs, therapy dogs, and a nurturing family pet.
Behind labs in the American Kennel Rankings are bulldogs, German shepherds, golden retrievers and beagles, reported AP.
This number four ranking for bulldogs is a record high, reported AP. Their high ranking wasn't too much of a surprise to those who are surrounded by bulldogs often. Annette Noble, communications chairwoman of the Bulldog Club of America, told AP, "They just have such character."
The rest of the top 10 included Yorkshire terriers, poodles, boxers, Rottweilers and French bulldogs.
