Kelly Clarkson expressed that she loves gender-neutral names and wanted her 8-month-old baby girl to have a unique moniker.
The singer revealed that although her daughter's name may sound very poetic, it definitely didn't require too much thought.
"We were going back and forth on what to name her, and I like androgynous names," the 32-year-old mother told People Magazine.
She and husband Brandon Blackstock, 38, were spending time with one another at their home in Nashville when the name popped into their heads.
"We were outside on our balcony, and we both looked at each other and were like, 'What about River? That's kind of cool.'"
"We live on a river, so it really wasn't that creative," Clarkson said.
As for "Rose," no, she didn't think of it while waltzing through a flower garden.
"It's my mother's maiden name," she added. "And I love alliteration." River Rose does have a nice ring to it. Could also be a great name for a rock band. You never know what the future holds for baby Clarkson.
Kelly Clarkson's new album "Piece by Piece" - her first non-holiday, full-length collection since 2011 - will debut in just 5 days on March 3.
