A 28-year-old Tennessee man was arrested for assaulting a 93-year-old woman after she refused to take her meds, WMC has learned.
Thomas Standley, rumored to be the 93-year-old's boyfriend, was taken into custody this week following the alleged incident at the Memphis home he shares with the unnamed victim.
The woman's daughter, Patricia Haynes, told police she heard her mother screaming for Standley to stop hurting her.
"Let go of me, you're hurting me," the elderly woman shouted, according to police records obtained by WMC.
Haynes, who lives next door, went to go check on her mother. But she said Standley became enraged and shoved Haynes out the door. The daughter told police she could still hear her mother's screams.
Haynes' mother later told police Standley choked her, grabbed her arms and shook her, according to a court affidavit obtained by NBC News.
In the affidavit, the woman is referred to as Standley's "girlfriend/roommate." However, police have not been able to confirm that information and the woman said Standley is her live-in caretaker.
"I'm 93 and he's 28. That doesn't go together," she told WMC. "He was staying with me and working full time. He fed me my meals and my medicine."
The attack was reportedly over the woman's refusal to take her medication. Standley has previously harmed the woman but she never reported him out of fear of retaliation, she told police, according to NBC News.
Standley was charged with domestic assault.
