Lada Gaga has left her nearly 40 million Twitter followers upset and shocked as it appears the "Mother Monster" is taking a break from the social networking site. On Monday, Deadspin was the first to break the news that Gaga had shut down her account.
The "Telephone" singer changed her Twitter photo to the default egg and her bio now reads: "This interface has been shutdown temporarily. Please check back for updates."
According to fans she also deleted all tweets that was posted after her hip surgery in February, MSN reports. it sounds a bit bizarre but many people are hoping that the break really is temporary. Some fans are even speculating that it has something to do with her upcoming album "ARTPOP."
The singer announced the name of her latest project on Twitter. According to Mashable, she also revealed that the album is going to be a one-of-a-kind experience for her fans and will be "completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga-inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works," she said.
Before shutting down her account Gaga had been shockingly quiet on social media. Her assistant recently spoke to some of her fans saying that the "Born This Way" singer was trying to focus on her health and that is why she hadn't been tweeting as much, the Huffington Post reports. Some may find her social media break shocking because just last month the 27-year-old topped Forbes "World's Most Powerful Musicians of 2013" list and her huge Twitter presence helped push her to the top
Even though Gaga is taking a break from Twitter her male alter ego, Jo Calderone, has suddenly began tweeting again for the first time since August 2011.
