With just days to go until the arrival of the royal baby, Kate Middleton has been making special preparations for the future heir to the throne, and of course, the highly anticipated newborn has been receiving tons of cool, crazy gifts. This week, the Duchess of Cambridge was given possibly the craziest gift ever, and it didn't come cheap, Yahoo! News reports.
Middleton was reportedly given a jewel-encrusted, white diamond $15,000 charm bracelet that doubles as a diaper cream rash holder, a gift from British jeweler Theo Fennell, whose famous clientele list includes the likes of Elton John, Madonna and David and Victoria Beckham. Sudocrem, an antiseptic healing company, commissioned Fennell to design the lavish and wild new creation, a gift that will ensure Middleton looks her best even while changing diapers!
"I am thrilled to make this miniature pot and bracelet for Sudocrem," Fennell said of his royal gift. He plans to engrave the baby's initials into a charm that will be placed alongside the diaper cream charm.
But Sudocrem didn't just give the bracelet to the Duke and Duchess right away. Instead, it will be auctioned off for charity before it reaches royal hands. "We have decided to auction this very special bracelet to raise money for one of the Duchess' favorite charities. In the spirit of giving, it's about putting something back," the company said, a move that the royals would likely agree with.
So far, Kate Middleton and Prince William have received everything from a cardboard box from the Finnish government to a a knitted kangaroo from Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard, and a crate of organic baby food. PETA gifted the Duke and Duchess a faux-sheepskin baby blanket complete with a little stuffed animal giraffe, and Finnish social security service, Kela, sent the new parents a "baby box" that contains rompers, leggings, a hooded bath towel, hairbrush, diaper rash cream, a picture book, a snowsuit, teething toy and...condoms!
The condoms gifted to Middleton and Prince William are intended to encourage the new parents to wait a bit before trying to have their second child.
The Duchess is due to give birth to the royal baby on July 11-13, as her official due date is still up in the air, but insider sources have revealed that it will happen very soon. Reporters have already begun camping out outside Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital, where Middleton will give birth.
