Instead of traditionally spending time with family on the Chinese New Year's Eve, a group of women decided to use their time to take care of more than 1,300 stray dogs.

Wang Yanfang, 60, was granted permission to start an asylum for stray dogs to keep them out of the pound in 2009, reported CCTV News. The asylum is supported soley on donations.

The number of stray dogs in China is always increasing, which prompted Yanfang to hire four women to work with her.

The women wake up at 4 a.m. every day to begin preparing the 400-kilos (881-pounds) of food to feed the dogs, reported CCTV.
