Baby Weasel Rides Back Of Woodpecker In London

An amateur photographer may have saved the life of a woodpecker he spotted in an England park Monday with his camera.

Martin Le-May was walking with his wife through Hornchurch Country Park when they spotted a woodpecker, reported Telegraph UK. Le-May immediately grabbed his camera and started snapping pictures of the bird.

The woodpecker, who appeared to be "unnaturally hopping about like it was treading on a hot surface," actually had a weasel clinging on to his back.

"I guess our presence... momentarily distracted the weasel," Le-May told Telegraph UK. "The woodpecker seized the opportunity and flew up and away into some bushes away to our left. Quickly the bird gathered its self respect and flew up into the trees and away from our sight. The woodpecker left with its life, the weasel just disappeared into the long grass, hungry."

Thanks to Le-May's park adventures on Monday this woodpecker is getting a second chance at life and the Internet is enjoying this incredible picture he snapped of the weasel on the woodpecker's back.
