Rumors about the future of the Spider-Man movie franchise are a plenty at this time. Drew Goddard is reportedly the favorite to write and direct the first solo movie since Sony and Marvel agreed to share the character. Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man is rumored to be appearing in the film.
But what about Spider-Man himself?
Little is known about which actors the studios are considering for the role of Peter Parker. But now, ScreenRant.com is following up on that web.
"There are rumblings on Reddit from a user who claims to have inside sources that Dylan O'Brien (The Maze Runner, Teen Wolf) - one of our suggested candidates for the role - has signed with Marvel/Sony to play Peter Parker going forward..." Rob Keyes wrote.
The powers that be are rumored to be searching for a younger actor than Andrew Garfield, 31, to portray the web head over the next five to ten years. O'Brien, 23, fits that mold. It appears that Sony and Marvel are hoping for a long-lasting franchise with this latest cinematic iteration of Spider-Man. So what will this new slate of films even be called and when can we expect them?
"The other details gleaned from the source indicate that the new franchise may live under the title Spectacular Spider-Man and that it'll release sequels over consecutive summers," Keyes wrote.
All of these reports are unconfirmed at this point but still worth checking out if you want to try and get a leg (or eight) up on the Spider-Man rumor mill.
