Mississippi Suspends Marshall Henderson, Ole Miss Guard Reportedly Failed Drug Tests

Mississippi suspended indefinitely Marshall Henderson for a violation of team rules. The school announced the suspension on Wednesday, USA Today Sports reports.

"Since the season ended, we have talked a lot about Marshall taking a greater leadership role with our team," Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy said in a statement. "With that comes greater responsibility, and he must do a better job of living up to the high standard we expect from him and he desires for himself."

Ole Miss declined to divulge the specifics of Henderson's violation, but SI.com reports the suspension was result of failed drug tests.

Henderson, who transferred to Mississippi his junior season, has a history of behavioral issues. He was arrested on forgery charges from an incident in his senior year of high school, and he served jail time in January 2012 after failing drug tests. The 22-year-old recently made headlines for raising his middle finger to an opposing fan during the NCAA tournament.

Despite his on-the-court and off-the-court problems, the Rebels guard has produced for Ole Miss and the school has always maintained that he's a good guy. He won the SEC tournament MVP and averaged 20.1 points per game last season.
