LG Display has brought a new invention into mobile technology with the world's slimmest Full HD LCD panel for smartphones.
As the trend for thinner and lighter smartphones continues, manufacturers are striving for innovations to fulfill consumer needs. LG Display, a subsidiary of LG Group, has unveiled the world's slimmest Full HD LCD panel Wednesday, especially designed for smartphones. It measure 5.2 inches and is only 2.2mm thin with a 2.3mm bezel. The LCD panel does not compromise on high-quality viewing experience with its sleek design.
LG Display used latest touch technology called "Advanced One-Glass-Solution" (OGS) to enhance the touch screen experience. It further added dual flexible circuits between the panel and the touch film, which decreased the number of lines on the panel by 30 percent. With the extensive usage of multimedia on mobile devices, LG's Full HD LCD panel offers better resolution, brightness and contrast for enhanced viewing experience.
"Today's introduction of the world's slimmest Full HD LCD panel represents an exciting advancement for the high-end smartphone segment, and is possible due to our world-class expertise in IPS and touch technologies," Dr. Byeong-Koo Kim, Vice President and Head of LG Display's IT and Mobile Development Group, said in a press release. "LG Display will continue its commitment to developing products that maximize consumer value as well as opening new doors for the mobile and tablet PC industry."
By clubbing the newest technology into the Full HD LCD panel, LG display performs better than any other Full HD LCD panels currently used in mobiles. LG guarantees more than three times better clarity compared to any Full HD LCD mobile panel, even in strong outdoor sunlight conditions.
Recently, LG announced the production of flexible, unbreakable smartphone display panels, which are also relatively thinner than other LCD displays. Besides LG, companies like Samsung, Nokia and Apple have also been reportedly working on flexible smartphone displays.
