A 14-month-old girl from Portland, Oregon, was the highest bidder of a 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite on eBay. She placed the bid using her dad's smartphone.
Little kids are always up to something and parents enjoy capturing such moments on tape. But if the parents of 14-month-old Sorella Stoute had seen their little one order a 1962 Austin-Healey Sprite on eBay, they may have considered making a better bid. But the order was confirmed at the highest bid of $225 for a 2-door roadster. It would be handy for Paul Stoute, Sorella's father, as he had plans to buy an old car and rebuild it from scratch. Now he has a lot to do on the machine his little one bought him.
Paul was unaware he was the highest bidder of the car until an email from eBay arrived congratulating him on the purchase of their product listed as "Frankensprite" for $225. Lucky for Paul, Sorella did not choose to order another working-condition pricey Austin Healey from the list, which could have cost them a couple of grands.
"Tap, tap, tap and now I own a car," Paul Stoute told KPTV. Paul is relieved his daughter did not order the $38,000 Porsche.
The parents of the little one plan on rebuilding the machine and presenting it to her on when turns 16 or on her high school graduation. But now, Paul and Christina Stoute, Sorella's mother, have taken necessary precautions by uninstalling any app that can make immediate purchase and adding password protection to their phones.
"It cannot happen again," Christina Stoute said, laughing, according to KPTV.
