The Durell Wildlife Conservation happily announced the birth of three special Madagascar Pochard ducklings.
The ducklings come from a Lazarus species, meaning that after they were declared extinct they were rediscovered. There are only about 30 of them in the wild, according to Zoo Borns.
If these ducklings are able to pull through and survive long enough to be released to the wetlands in Madagascar they will be a big help to the local teams working to help the species grow, the Durell Wildlife Conservation wrote on their Facebook.
The duckling's parents were specifically chosen to breed the babies by students from Cardiff University who are contributing to the research that will hopefully keep the Madagascar Pochard from definitive extinction, reported Zoo Borns.
