The key to a long, prosperous marriage boils down to your type of toilet seat, one Michigan-based inventor claims.
In comes the self-closing toilet seat, which will "save marriages and relationships one flush at a time," inventor Tom Reminga told WZZM.
The $45 Flush Down Toilet Seat is battery-free, installs within minutes and doesn't require any bulky tools. It will keep your pets from drinking toilet water, too.
Reminga, of Grand Rapids, developed the seat after winning a $5,000 Start Garden grant in 2013 and has been fine-tuning prototypes ever since. Another man also came up with the idea for a toilet seat that automatically closes, but Reminga bought out his patent, WZZM reported.
Thought it's not available on the market yet, Reminga's self-closing seat has apparently worked for one husband and wife.
"My wife and I always put the seat down- it annoyed us that other members of our family and guests didn't," Larry Hull said in a review on the product's website. "Flush-Down has solved that problem."
Reminga's next hope is to obtain more funds by winning a radio station contest for national inventors.
