Gritty dramas and reality competition will rule this summer on NBC.
The network announced its summer schedule on Friday and it includes the return of "Hannibal," "America's Got Talent" and "American Ninja Warrior" as well as the premiere of "Aquarius," starring David Duchovny.
The summer kicks off in May with the premiere of the two reality competition shows. "American Ninja Warrior" returns on Monday, May 25 at 8 p.m. Matt Iseman host the show where competitors run challenging obstacle courses in hopes of making it to the national final rounds in Las Vegas.
Host Nick Cannon will celebrate the 10th season of "America's Got Talent" starting on Tuesday, May 26 at 8 p.m. All of last year's judges return including Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel.
Over on the scripted side, "Hannibal" will premiere its long-awaited third season on Thursday, June 4 at 10 p.m. Mads Mikkelsen's Hannibal has escaped to Europe with his psychiatrist Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson). He's pursued by Will (Hugh Dancy), Jack (Laurence Fishburne) and Alana (Caroline Dhavernas) in a series of events where "nothing will ever be the same again."
Finally, David Duchovny stars in the new series "Aquarius." The show starts with a two-hour premiere on Thursday, May 28 at 9 p.m. and follows LAPD Sgt. Sam Hodiak (Duchovny) in the year of 1967. Hodiak along with his partners Brian Shafe and Charmain Tully track down a missing young woman who eventually leads them to a killer known today as Charles Manson (Gethin Anthony).
