During her recent appearance on the "TODAY" show, Kris Jenner sat down with anchor Matt Lauer and showed him a picture of her new granddaughter, North "Nori" West. This did not sit well with father West, who, according to Radar Online, was "outraged" to learn that Jenner had shown a picture of his daughter to his arch-nemesis.
The famed NBC interviewer and West are not fans of one another, especially after West's "brutal" 2010 interview during which producers showed a clip of then-president George W. Bush bemoaning the fact that West had called him a racist by saying that he didn't "care about black people" around the time of Hurricane Katrina.
In 2004, West made an appearance as a presenter alongside Mike Myers at A Concert For Hurricane Relief in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. During the event, the presenters were supposed to read his scripted lines cued to them, but West delineated from the script to vent his own frustration towards Bush's response to the tragedy.
As Mike Myers went back and forth with him on the scripted interview, West said: "I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, it says, 'They're looting.' You see a white family, it says, 'They're looking for food.' And, you know, it's been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are black. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I've tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help-with the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way-and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us!"
He finished his infamous rant with the line: "George Bush doesn't care about black people," insinuating that Bush is a racist and apathetic towards people of color in disaster situations. That line would go on to be his most remembered and most shocking from the unscripted rant.
West is highly protective of his daughter North ("Nori") from the public eye, refusing to let her make an appearance on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians," as he's said she's his baby, "not America's baby."
So when Jenner showed his nemesis Laeur the private photo of Nori, a source told Radar that West was "absolutely apoplectic with anger because he hates Matt."
"Kanye felt extremely disrespected and insulted by Matt and the direction the interview took in 2010," said the insider. "He was outraged and disgusted that Kris showed Matt a picture of Nori and he is now refusing to speak to her."
During the interview, Lauer asked the Kardashian matriarch Jenner, "Are there plans in the first week of this show to reveal either photos of the new granddaughter North or perhaps a walk on from Kim, Kanye and North?"
"Well while that's ambitious, that would be fun," she said. "I think you're just going to have to wait and see and tune in because I'm not sure exactly what' s going to happen."
The Radar source explained that following the interview, "Kim called her mother, at Kanye's direction, telling her not to show any pictures she had of Nori to anyone. Kim was freaking out because Kanye was so angry. Kris just blew her off and promised she wouldn't."
