Toy companies have made some weird action figures. If you know where to look, you can find everything from a Jesus action figure to a Freud action figure to even a Barack Obama action figure. However, there is apparently no action figure of Hillary Clinton, or at least there wasn't one until now.
The Brooklyn-based husband-and-wife product design studio FCTRY recently started a Kickstarter campaign to create a Hillary Clinton action figure. According to the creators, their end-goal is "to make Hillary Clinton into an awesome iconic action figure. Basically, we're hoping to kick off some light-hearted excitement about her campaign and the amazingly cool prospect of America getting its first woman president."
The figure's designer Jason Feinberg told Mashable that the campaign was partly inspired by the controversy surrounding a Hillary Clinton nutcracker that Urban Outfitters sold.
"We're trying to create a positive alternative that could actually send the right message for girls," Feinberg said.
FCTRY has provided backers with a variety of options for funding the Hillary Clinton action figure. $1 donations will receive a postcard from FCTRY telling the backer that they supported the Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign. Backers will have to pay $15 to get their hands on their very own Hillary Clinton action figure. If a user is feeling really crazy, they can send FCTRY $5,000 and have the company turn them into an custom action figure. FCTRY hopes to deliver all the action figures by May 2015.
FCTRY is well known for making presidential action figures as well as unique niche products, such as mustache-shaped pacifiers, Mac keyboard decorative stickers, and giant plastic gummy bears.
