Dallas Cowboys RUMORS: DeMarco Murray Leaving Via NFL Free Agency?

DeMarco Murray is in no rush.

Last season's NFL leading rusher is planning on taking his time before making a final decision on whether to return to the Dallas Cowboys or to sign elsewhere during the NFL free agency period.

It was reported late last week that Murray was inclined to offer the Cowboys a small hometown discount and would return to Dallas if the money elsewhere was similar.

While that may still be the case, Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk is reporting that Murray will go wherever the money is and has no qualms about moving on from the Cowboys.

"Per a source with knowledge of the situation, Murray is willing to move on for a better opportunity, if that better opportunity presents itself," writes Florio.

"Murray realizes the importance of the decision, and he plans to take his time and be methodical in his thought processes. While that may seem odd at a time when teams and agents are doing deals before visits are even taken, Murray's approach is the smart one."

Murray led the league in rushing last season, finishing with a final tally of 1,845 yards rushing on 392 carries along with 57 receptions for 416 yards.

The 27-year-old back made only $1.4 million last year and is expected to garner a "vigorous" NFL free agency market, despite the perceived decreasing value of the running back position.

For the Cowboys, they don't seem to have much in the way of leverage considering there are no ready replacements currently on the roster. Lance Dunbar would presumably vault to the head of the class were Murray to exit stage left, but there's almost no chance the Cowboys would enter next season with Dunbar and Joseph Randle as the only backs on the roster.
