The Brooklyn Nets have made an array of moves this offseason highlighted by the trade with the Boston Celtics for power forward Kevin Garnett and small forward Paul Pierce. The acquisitions have added fuel to the “Which New York team is better” debate. Thursday, future Hall of Fame center Shaquille O’Neal gave his opinion on the subject, according to Newsday.
"I'm going with the Nets right now, over the Knicks -- all day, every day," said O’Neal . "[Jason] Kidd's a great guy, he's a great leader. I'm anxious to see when things get tough how the guys are going to respond.”
"It's a dangerous lineup. I was thinking about it on the way over here."
The Nets immensely increased their talent level with the additions of Pierce and Garnett. The prospective Nets starting lineup for the 2012-2013 season features Brook Lopez at center, Kevin Garnett at power forward, Paul Pierce at small forward, Joe Johnson at shooting guard and Deron Williams at point guard.
All five are, or have been, all star-caliber players in their careers.
This offseason, the Knicks major moves include the addition of Andrea Bargani from the Raptors and the resigning of reigning Sixth Man of the Year JR Smith.
Shaq made his comments at Basketball City to celebrate his new line of all-natural cream sodas, Shaq Soda. Shaq Soda is a line by the Arizona Beverage company.
In addition to the launch celebration O’Neal also spoke about the scholarships that will be given to 10 basketball camps. Arizona donated 5,000 to help the charitable work, which is enough to aid 10 underprivileged kids go to basketball camp held at Basketball City.
