Four months after its release, the BlackBerry Z10 is now selling at a discounted rate at Best Buy.
If you take a trip at the Best Buy’s website, you should be able to see that the prices have dropped significantly. One can get it for $49 with a two-year contract with Verizon and AT&T. That is a huge 75 percent off the price from its original $199.99. However, if you check it out from Verizon and AT&T’s website, they are offering it for $99.99 with a two-year contract. Both are good deals to consider, either you get a 50 or 75 percent discount for this all-touch smartphone.
BlackBerry has not responded immediately for comments about this huge price drop.
There were different assumptions that this price cut is a result of the BlackBerry’s considered ‘disastrous launch’ as its latest smartphones didn’t perform well as expected. Earlier this week, chief executive Thorsten Heins had reported in the annual shareholders’ meeting the weak sales of their latest smartphones including the BlackBerry Z10. The company is now thinking if their long-term plans for the company are still clear despite the company’s frail return of investment.
Heins said that the company is now undergoing a major transition this year and asked for the shareholders to stay with them as they will be doing something about this loss. Even business analysts were proven wrong because they also projected that the company will make its major comeback with its new line of smartphones.
The company is struggling in the competition with different devices such as Apple, Samsung, and other manufacturers. However, Chitika, a mobile Web traffic analysis site, reported on Tuesday that it had detected web shares from BlackBerry Q10—the company’s new smartphone with QWERTY keyboard, which was released in June. This may be a good sign that BlackBerry is slowly making its return.
