Steam, Valve's popular game downloading and streaming service for PC and Mac gamers has kicked off its annual summer sale, which will provide heavy discounts on popular games until July 22.
Beginning on Friday, Steam will offer three options for sales for gamers. There's the daily deals, flash sales and community's choice. Daily deals will provide discounts on specific titles for a period of 24 hours. The games listed on the deals aren't the company's one-off titles that they're trying to get rid of either. The first daily deal was 2013's breakout hit "Bioshock Infinite." Already rumored to be a contender for 2013's Game of the Year, "Infinite" was on put on sale for $29.99, down from $59.99, complete with trading cards. Meanwhile, "Defiance" also received a 66 percent price slash from $39.99 to $13.59 and Valve's popular zombie shooter "Left 4 Dead 2" received a 75 percent price cut putting the game on sale at $4.99
According to PC Mag, "Steam will also offer discounts on Endless Space, Mars: War Logs, Hotline Miami, Scribblenauts Unlimited, Call of Juarez Gunslinger, Toki Tori 2+, and Don't Starve."
Steam's Summer Sale also features smaller eight-hour sales. Available at launch was "Dragon Age: Origins Ultimate Edition for $8.99, down from $29.99; "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim" the Legendary Edition for $35.99, down from $59.99; "Grid 2" for $29.99, down from $49.99 and "Counter-Strike: Global Offensive" for $5.09, down from $14.99.
Finally, Steam offers a "Community's Choice" section to its sale. Every eight hours, Steam will offer up a choice between three games and ask players which one they'd like to see get a discount. In the last round, gamers had the choice between getting a 40-66 percent price reduction on "Dishonored," "Borderlands 2," and "Far Cry 3."
