GM Recalling 64,000 Volts to Fix Carbon Monoxide Issue

General Motors is recalling a number of its Chevrolet Volts in order to fix an issue the vehicles are experiencing with carbon monoxide.

The problem, according to the Detriot automaker, is that if a driver gets out of the car and forgets to turn it off, the battery may eventually drain and the gas generator would start running, Fox News reported. This could result in gas building up if the car is in a garage or any other enclosed space.

The recalls covers over 64,000 units of the gas-electric hybrid car made from 2011 to 2013 in the U.S., Canada and other countries.

GM said it is aware of two injuries connected to carbon monoxide exposure, according to MarketWatch. No deaths have been reported related to the issue.

The company looks to fix the problem by having dealers update the software in the recalled Volts so that the amount of time they are left idling is limited.
