Former New Orleans Saints Safety Darren Sharper Allegedly Forced Women to Have Spiked Drink Before Raping Them

Former NFL safety Darren Sharper is accused of forcing two women to have a drink spiked with drugs before raping them in a hotel room, according to police reports.

The former Super Bowl winner is said to have met the two women at different parties in Los Angeles in November and January and invited them to his hotel. According to the Los Angeles Times, he then forced them to drink the spiked liquid and attacked them.

Sharper's case is one of a handful of horrible allegations of former Saints players committing sexual assaults in a similar manner all across the country.

Several accusations claim that he would meet women at bars and clubs and then take them back to where he was staying where he would then give them a drink mixed with drugs that caused the victims to black out.

Sharper reportedly met the first victim at a party in West Hollywood in November 2013. He ordered an Uber cab at around two in the morning and invited the woman home with him. When they arrived at his hotel, he insisted that she take a drink despite her concerns that it was suspicious.

The LA Times obtained a report that said: "The [victim] was under the impression that they were going to be going to an after-party. So, the [victim] went to use the restroom and does not recall anything after that."

The woman reportedly awoke the next morning to Harper forcibly having sex with her.

A friend who was present at the time but had also passed out after drinking the illicit substance knocked on the door, which prompted Sharper to get dressed and leave.

A similar report was given by a second victim who told authorities that she met Sharper at a party in the Hollywood Hills in January of 2014. She said the 14-year NFL veteran offered to share a taxi with her after the party but insisted on stopping off at his hotel to "pick something up." When they arrived at his room, Sharper then offered cranberry and vodka shots that were mixed while the victim was in the bathroom. Again, he insisted despite the women's protests.

Sharper initially posted $1 million bail to get out of jail but was back in custody after turning himself in on February 27 following a warrant being issued for his arrest in New Orleans. He has since been indicted with co-defendant Brandon Licciardi and a third man on three charges of rape.

Sharper has remained in jail since February 2014 after a Los Angeles judge ordered that he be in police custody.

He has pleaded not guilty to giving women drugs and raping them.
