The North Carolina (UNC) Tar Heels clash with the Virginia Cavaliers on Friday, when the two teams meet in the ACC Tournament semifinals for a chance at a spot in the final. Live streaming information for the game, which tips off at 7 p.m. ET, can be found below.
No. 19 North Carolina rallied in the second half of Wednesday's quarterfinal against Louisville, going on an 8-0 run to take the late lead and advance with a 70-60 win. Tar Heels forward Brice Johnson led the surge, finishing with 22 points and seven rebounds, while guard Marcus Paige added 13 points, five assists and four steals.
The win didn't come easy, though. North Carolina coach Roy Williams was seen screaming on the sidelines throughout the game, imploring his men to step up and play better. It was enough for North Carolina to avoid losing its ACC tournament opener in back-to-back years, and it was enough for Williams to walk away with his 747th career win.
"I've been very fortunate, had big-time players that were willing to take all my antics and screaming at them and then turn around and play better basketball like Brice did today," said Williams, who's now 15th on the Division I wins list, according to ESPN. "I didn't realize that. That's pretty neat."
Thursday's game also saw the return of Tar Heels forward Kennedy Meeks, who scored nine points after missing Wednesday's game against Boston College.
No. 3 Virginia, meanwhile, bounced back from their regular-season finale loss at Louisville with a 58-44 win Thursday against Florida State. Virginia forwards Mike Tobey and Evan Nolte both led the Cavaliers with 11 points apiece, and guard Malcolm Brogdon scored all 10 of his points in the fourth quarter.
For Nolte, it was another big day from beyond the arc.
"I don't try to pay attention too much from the 3-point line to be honest," said Nolte, who's trio of threes on Thursday have him shooting 10 for 19 from 3-point range over his last five games. "It was just in rhythm. People are in what we call the gaps, and they have to close out a little longer, and that's why I stepped back a little more and just let it go with confidence."
