WhiteHouse.gov Petition Asks Administraiton To Bring Treason Charges Against Obama

A new petition posted on the White House's "We the People" do-it-yourself petition site calls for the Obama administration to "bring charges of treason upon Barack Hussein Obama."

The petition then cites three treasonous acts committed by President Obama:

First, the petition charges that Obama surrendered U.S. war-making powers to foreign entities "by attacking Libya without consulting Congress." Such an act violates U.S. Constitution Article 1, Section 8 and U.S. Code Title 50, Chapter 33:1541-1548, according to the petition.

Second, the petition alleges Obama refused to secure the U.S.'s borders from "illegal alien invasion, international criminal incursion, and terrorist cadre penetration," which the petition says is a violation of the U.S. Constitution.

And finally, the petition says Obama gave aid and comfort to enemies of the United States, "as witnessed by consorting with, supporting and installing to powerful Federal positions persons who in writing, word and deed have called for and promoted the overthrow of America's constitutionally guaranteed Republican form of government."

The petition was created by D.W. from Kirksville, Montana on March 11 and has so far received 4,672 signatures, with 95,328 signatures needed by April 10 to warrant a response from the Obama administration.

The White House set up its first-of-a-kind petition site because, as it says, "The right to petition your government is guaranteed by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. We created We the People because we want to hear from you. If a petition gets enough support, White House staff will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response."

Per the site's terms of participation, if a petition reaches 150 signatures within 30 days, the petition crosses its first threshold and becomes searchable within WhiteHouse.gov.

If a petition reaches 100,000 signatures within 30 days, the White House is required to respond.

As some have noted though, the White House chooses which petitions it wants to respond to, and it sometimes takes months or years to respond. For example, the petition to pardon Edward Snowden was published in June 2013, yet still hasn't received a response. So while the petition to charge Obama with treason may reach the number of signatories to require a response, who knows how long that could take.
