Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney netted a goal in the team's 3-0 rout of Tottenham on Sunday, but earlier this month he was knocked out by a defender on Stoke City. And it wasn't on the field.
The UK's Sun on Sunday obtained a video of Rooney boxing Stoke City defender Phil Bardsley in the striker's kitchen. The two are former teammates and friends and appear as if they enjoy a good old-fashioned boxing match every so often. They went at it for about a minute before Rooney was apparently knocked unconscious.
The video below was obtained by The Sun on Sunday:
But Rooney made light of the situation during his celebration on Sunday after scoring Manchester United's third goal against Tottenham.
The video of the two men boxing was reportedly filmed on Feb. 22 and wasn't released until today. However, Rooney seemingly hasn't been affected by Bardsley's knockout punch because he has scored four goals in Manchester United's last four matches, during which the team is 3-1.
The Man U striker is a boxing fan based on his comments on social media, but manager Louis van Gaal likely won't be too pleased if/when he sees the video because he probably doesn't want his star player risking his health off the field.
The Red Devils will square off against Liverpool next Sunday at 9:30 a.m. ET.
