Honduras meets Trinidad & Tobago on Monday in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage. The match begins at 9:30 p.m. ET. Watch the live stream HERE.
Honduras can secure the No. 1 spot in Group B and advance to the next round by defeating Trinidad & Tobago, David Salazar of LatinosPost.com reports. Even a draw would advance Honduras to the quarterfinals.
The squad has shown resiliency throughout the tournament. It came back in its opening match against Haiti to win, 2-0. El Salvador then challenged Honduras in the next match, but the Honduran team prevailed with a 1-0 win.
Trinidad & Tobago, in contrast, is fighting to keep alive in the Gold Cup chase. The team ended its opening match with a 2-2 draw against El Salvador, but then suffered a 2-0 loss in its following match against Haiti.
For Trinidad & Tobago to advance, it needs not only a win against El Salvador by three or more goals, but also a draw in the Haiti versus El Salvador match.
"Trinidad would also qualify under this scenario if it finishes in third place because its four points would make it among the top two third-place sides in the tournament," Salazar wrote.
LatinosPost.com predicts a conservative match from Honduras that ends in a 1-1 draw.
