Kraft Foods has recalled thousands of its trademark blue box macaroni and cheese dinners due to reports of metal pieces found inside, CBS News has learned.
Some 242,000 cases of Kraft Macaroni & Cheese- including those sold individually and in packs of three, four and five- were recalled after eight consumers complained of finding small metal pieces in their boxes.
The boxes in question were sold along the Western Hemisphere, including the U.S., Caribbean and South America. Canada is not included, Kraft Foods Group Inc. said Tuesday.
Kraft also said "the product is limited to the 7.25-oz. size of the Original flavor of boxed dinner with the "Best When Used By" dates of September 18, 2015 through October 11, 2015, with the code 'C2.' "
The "C2" refers to the specific production line on which the product came from.
No injuries were reported and no other sizes or pasta types are part of the recall. But those who purchased the affected macaroni should refrain from eating it and return it to where it was purchased for a refund.
The company did not grant CBS News' Tuesday request for comment.
