NFL RUMORS: Seattle Seahawks Targeting Dorial Green-Beckham In 2015 NFL Draft?

The Seattle Seahawks seem to have a perennial need at pass-catcher.

Doug Baldwin, Jermaine Kearse and Ricardo Lockette are all good, if limited players while Paul Richardson has the chance to develop into a nice outside threat. The Seahawks tend to just make do with what they've got at receiver since they already have a franchise quarterback, a stud running back and a strong offensive line built for power more than speed - and hey, it's definitely worked for them in the recent past.

Still, better receiving options could help the already strong Seattle offense take that big necessary next step.

They made a gargantuan move to provide that franchise signal-caller, Russell Wilson, with some much-needed pass-catching help when they traded their first-round pick in the 2015 NFL Draft to the New Orleans Saints for All Pro tight end and touchdown machine Jimmy Graham at the outset of the newest league year.

Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll and GM John Schneider may not be done adding toys for Wilson to play with, though.

"Prior to trading 1st round pick in Graham deal, #Seahawks were digging into WR Dorial Green-Beckham. If he slides to 2nd rd, watch Seattle," tweeted Charles Robinson of Yahoo! Sports.

There's no denying the talent Green-Beckham boasts - he's 6-foot-5, 237-pounds and often draws comparisons to Detroit Lions mammoth receiver Calvin Johnson - or that he'd look plenty good catching jump passes from Wilson as a member of the Seahawks.

Green-Beckham though, is about as divisive a prospect as there has ever been entering the NFL draft.

"Wide receiver is the ultimate boom-or-bust position," NFL.com's Daniel Jeremiah said recently. "Dorial Green-Beckham, to me, he is the ultimate boom-or-bust guy in this draft class. All the physical ability in the world, everybody knows about that ... but there's the off-the-field stuff."

Green-Beckham, of course, was ousted from Missouri due to those off-the-field issues, then failed to play a single snap at Oklahoma because of technicalities involving his decision to transfer.

Still, he's tied for fifth on NFL.com draft analyst Mike Mayock's list of top receivers in the 2015 NFL Draft.

His talent means he'll be drafted and all it takes is one team to fall in love with his prodigious skillset to make him a much higher pick than most expect, but should Green-Beckham's issues prove sufficiently worrisome to drop him into the latter portion of the second round, Carroll and Schneider may not hesitate to snatch him up and add him to their stable of receivers.
