A 12-year-old girl from Colorado has been arrested and detained by police on Friday for allegedly trying to kill her mom who took away her iPhone.
Police investigation showed that the girl attempted to poison her mom by attempting to make her drink bleach twice in a week. On one attempt, the mom drank the liquid chemical after the girl served her a smoothie with bleach. The victim was hospitalized at the Boulder Community Hospital on March 2, according to Reuters.
On the second attempt, the girl poured bleach on the water carafe. The victim noticed that it smelled like bleach, so she confronted her daughter and called the police. The girl admitted that she wanted to kill her for taking away her iPhone.
“Mom noticed an odor of bleach in the drink and thought her daughter had cleaned the glass prior to making the beverage and did not rinse all the bleach out," the police statement said.
Authorities detained the girl at the Boulder County Juvenile Center on two counts of attempted first-degree murder, ABC News reported.
“She had pre-planned this a couple of different times,” Sgt. Bill Crist of the Boulder County Sheriff’s office said in a statement.
The mom is now out on good condition.
This incident is similar to the case of a Virginia teen who stabbed his parents to death late 2013 for taking away his iPod.
