Virginia Dad Of Missing Teen Arrested For Breaking Into 'Suspect's' Home

An investigation into the disappearance of a Virginia college student took an odd turn over the weekend when her father was arrested for breaking into the home of a person he says abducted his daughter.

Norfolk police spent 12 hours on Saturday searching the woods for 18-year-old Anjelica "AJ" Hadsell, who was last seen March 2 while home from Longwood University for spring break, Fox News reported.

Also on Saturday, the freshman's 36-year-old father, Wesley Hadsell, was arrested for breaking and entering a man's home among other charges unrelated to his daughter's disappearance.

"I couldn't sit a minute away from where my daughter may have been," Hadsell told WAVY-TV.

Hadsell, who doesn't deny the charges or his criminal record, said he spent about 20 minutes searching the home, during which he found something belonging to Anjelica.

"I found my daughter's jacket in his couch rolled up behind he cushion," the father told the station. "I was just trying to make the evidence come to light.

"It's not like I had the jacket, I didn't plant the jacket," Hadsell continued. "I didn't know anything about that. It was the fact of the overwhelming information that led me there."

Anjelica's parents reported her missing after she was last seen at their home in Norfolk. No suspects have been named at this time but police are not ruling out foul play, Fox News reported.

Police later searched Hadsell's hotel room and found over 70 rounds of ammunition. After a 15-hour interrogation, he was charged with possessing ammunition, obstruction of justice and breaking and entering.

Hadsell says he is a changed man with a steady job and a good family. But his daughter's disappearance is taking its toll.

"I want my daughter home," he told WAVY-TV. "That's what I want and that's all I want."
