Emma Roberts, niece of actress Julia Roberts, was arrested for a domestic violence incident in Canada after allegedly beating up her boyfriend, Evan Peters, according to TMZ.
Roberts, 22, was taken into custody on July 7 in Montreal after someone called the police to report a fight in the couple's hotel room.
According to TMZ, when authorities arrived to the scene, they saw Peter, 26-year-old American Horror Story actor, with a bloody nose and a bite mark, allegedly inflicted by Roberts. The young actress was immediately arrested, and released hours later because Peters allegedly did not want to press charges.
Sources reportedly told TMZ the couple had been hitting each other and Roberts was arrested because Peters had "obvious physical injuries." However, the sources Roberts had bitten Peters.
Roberts was spotted with Peters on Tuesday, extremely emotional with Peters by her side as she most likely heard about the story leaking to the press. She was seen crying as Peters comforted her outside a New Orleans studio.
A representative for the couple released the following statement to US Weekly about the incident:
"It was an unfortunate incident and misunderstanding. Ms. Roberts was released after questioning and the couple are working together to move past it."
A source told the magazine that Roberts seemed normal a few days after the couple's alleged physical altercation. Peters and Roberts have been dating since spring 2012.
The couple also stars in a new film called "Adult World," a movie about a poet trying to make her way in the real world after graduating from college, which will be released later this year.
Roberts and Peters are not the first Hollywood couple to be involved in a domestic violence incident. Chris Brown was arrested the night of the 2011 Grammys for hitting Rihanna, and TMZ published the photos bruised singer.
