Alaska Family, Missing 10 Months, Linked To Remains Found On Trail

Alaska investigators found what is believed to be the remains of a family of four, including two children, who went missing without a trace 10 months ago, reports revealed Sunday.

A motorist discovered the human remains and bits of clothing on Saturday while traveling down a wooded trail northwest of the family's home in Kenai, Alaska, the town's police department told the Alaska Dispatch News.

"A very preliminary scene assessment has revealed information that points to the Kenai family that turned up missing in May of 2014," the Kenai Police Department said.

Officials are now working to confirm if the remains are that of Rebecca Adams, 23; her 6-year-old daughter Michelle Hundley; her 3-year-old daughter Jaracca Hundley; and her boyfriend Brandon Jividen. Police noted that items found at the scene match possessions reported missing from the family's apartment in Kenai.

Adams, her children and boyfriend were last seen at the apartment, located in the small town on the Kenai Peninsula, according to the Alaska Dispatch News. Their dog was reported missing, too.

Details surrounding the nature of their disappearance are unclear. Relatives pleaded with the public for information on the family's whereabouts while search parties focused on the woods around Kenai, including land near the Wildwood Correctional Complex.

"You have a shred of hope that they will be found," Adams' uncle Dennis Giffords told the newspaper. "And that shred has been taken away."
