New Zealand finished the group stage with an unbeaten record, earning a spot against the West Indies in Saturday's fourth quarterfinal match. Martin Guptill earned the Man of the Match award for his huge 237-run performance on offense, playing a big part in New Zealand's 143-run win over the West Indies. Ross Taylor added 42 runs, and on the bowling front Trent Boult recorded 10 outs and took four wickets, and Tim Southee recorded eight outs and took two wickets.
South Africa, meanwhile, was No. 2 in the Group B standings and beat Sri Lanka in Wednesday's first quarterfinal by nine wickets to earn a spot in Tuesday's semifinal. Imran Tahir won the Man of the Match award for his efforts on the bowling front, finishing with 8.2 outs and four wickets taken. Offensively, Quinton de Kock led the efforts with 78 runs.
