Connie Britton Joins FX’s ‘American Crime Story’ As Faye Resnick

Ryan Murphy has tapped Connie Britton to join his new FX project, "American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson."

Britton will play Faye Resnick in the 10-episode anthology series about the O.J. Simpson murder trial. Murphy, who made the casting announcement via Twitter, will direct the miniseries based on the book, "The Run of His Life: The People v. O.J. Simpson" by Jeffrey Toobin.

Resnick was a friend of Nicole Brown who was murdered in 1994 along with her friend Ronald Goldman. Simpson's defense team alleged that Brown and Golman were executed by drug dealers who came to collect money from Resnick, an admitted cocaine addict.

Toobin's story is told from the perspective of the lawyers: the over-confident prosecution on one side and Simpson's crafty defense team that convinced a jury to find reasonable doubt.

The "Nashville" star joins a cast that includes Cuba Gooding Jr. as Simpson, John Travolta as Robert Shapiro (a Simpson attorney), Courtney B. Vance as lead attorney Johnnie Cochran, Sarah Paulson as prosecutor Marcia Clark and David Schwimmer as Robert Kardashian (another Simpson attorney).

Britton previously starred in the first installment of Murphy's other FX anthology series, "American Horror Story: Murder House." She currently stars in the ABC country music drama, "Nashville."
