Marvel will keep directors Joe and Anthony Russo in the fold after they finish production on "Captain America: Civil War" later this year.
The Russo brothers will direct "Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 & 2," according to Badass Digest. The movies will shoot back-to-back in 2016 and 2017. The first installment will premiere on May 4, 2018 followed by part two on May 3, 2019.
Marvel has not hired a writer for the project yet, but the studio is in talks with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, according to Badass Digest. The screenwriters worked on all three "Captain America" films as well as "Thor: The Dark World" and helped create the Marvel TV series, "Agent Carter," on ABC.
The Russos will start filming on "Captain America: Civil War" on April 1. The movie will pit former allies Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans) against one another and introduce the Marvel superhero, Black Panther (and possibly Spider-Man).
The official plot synopsis was released last week. "Following the events of 'Age of Ultron,' the collective governments of the world pass an act designed to regulate all superhuman activity. This polarizes opinion amongst the Avengers, causing two factions to side with Iron Man or Captain America, which causes an epic battle between former allies."
"Captain America: Civil War" will premiere on May 6, 2016. The next "Avengers" movie, "Age of Ultron," hits theaters on May 1.
